GRIEF & HEALING ART WORKSHOPS

Our grief and healing art workshops are designed for individuals and
families living with loss. These workshops offer a safe, supportive
space where participants can express emotions that are often difficult
to put into words through creative exploration and shared presence.

Workshops are led by Janine Booker, co-founder of Healing Art Together
and a retired registered nurse, along with other healing artists who bring
compassion, lived experience, and creative practice into the space.

Janine brings both her professional healthcare background and her personal
journey through grief after losing her daughter, Shannan to cancer. The
facilitation is grounded in empathy, respect, and an understanding that
grief looks different for everyone.

No art experience is required. These workshops are not about creating
“art” — they are about expression, remembrance, connection, and honoring each person’s journey.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The HAT Collective

A directory and community for healing artists

The HAT Collective is a growing community and directory of healing artists across disciplines — visual arts, music, movement, writing, and more — who use creativity to support healing and connection.

The Collective bridges the gap between healing artists and healthcare, wellness, and community organizations, making it easier for creative practitioners to be discovered and for organizations to find meaningful arts-based programming.

At this time, the HAT Collective functions primarily as a public directory and community platform, allowing individuals, groups, and organizations to explore artists and connect directly based on shared interests and needs.

What the HAT Collective offers:

  • A public directory of healing artists

  • Opportunities to connect with healthcare and wellness organizations

  • Community visibility and collaboration

  • Support for artists using creativity as a healing modality

Artists of all backgrounds are welcome. No formal credentials are required — only a commitment to ethical, compassionate practice.

Community Healing Programs

Art, movement, and connection in shared spaces

Healing Art Together hosts community-based programs that bring people together through creativity and shared experience. These programs are open, inclusive, and designed to foster connection, expression, and emotional well-being.

Examples of our community programs include:

  • Group art and movement gatherings

  • Social connection events honoring loved ones

  • Creative workshops in partnership with local organizations

Some community programs are designed to honor remembrance, loss, and collective healing through shared creative expression.

Programs may vary throughout the year based on community needs and partnerships.

Healing Art Conference

Bringing together healthcare, healing arts, and community

Each July, Healing Art Together hosts the Healing Art Conference, a gathering focused on the intersection of healthcare, wellness, and the healing arts.

The conference brings together:

  • Healthcare professionals

  • Healing artists

  • Community leaders

  • Advocates for integrative and creative healing approaches

Through panels, workshops, and shared dialogue, the conference explores how art can support mental, emotional, and community well-being in healthcare and beyond.

The conference also serves as a space for learning, reflection, and relationship-building across creative and community-based healing practices.
