Art Share: Healing Through Creative Connection – A Transformative Experience
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, Hey Arts in Carle Place, NY, hosted a profoundly moving event that brought together art, healing, and human connection. “Art Share: Healing Through Creative Connection,” presented by Healing Art Together as part of UNGA Healing Arts Week, offered participants a sacred space to explore creativity as a pathway to wellness and community.
A Journey Through Grief
The afternoon began with an inspirational Art experience led by Jlisette, a talented acrylic painter whose work carries deep personal meaning. Jlisette’s artistic journey took on new significance after the devastating loss of her daughter to ovarian cancer. In the depths of grief, she discovered that art became more than self-expression—it became a lifeline, a way to process the unprocessable and find beauty amid profound sorrow.
Her willingness to share this vulnerable part of her story created an immediate sense of trust and openness in the room. As Jlisette guided participants through the creative process, it became clear that art could serve as a universal language for emotions that words often fail to capture. Whether participants were experienced artists or picking up a brush for the first time, the shared experience of creation fostered genuine connection and mutual support.
The Power of Sound Healing
The second half of the event featured sound healing with Shan, a skilled sound healer and spiritual coach. For those unfamiliar with this practice, Sound Healing uses vibrations and frequencies to promote relaxation, release tension, and restore balance to the mind and body.
Shan’s session was nothing short of powerful. As resonant tones filled the space at Hey Arts, participants reported feeling waves of calm wash over them. The experience transcended the merely auditory—it was visceral, emotional, and deeply therapeutic. Many described a sense of release, as though the sound vibrations were gently loosening knots of stress and worry they’d been carrying.
Social Connection as Healing
One of the most beautiful aspects of this event was the social connection it fostered. In our increasingly isolated world, gathering with others in a spirit of healing and creativity reminded everyone present of our fundamental need for community. Participants didn’t just create art or experience sound healing in isolation—they did so together, sharing space, stories, and vulnerabilities.
The atmosphere was one of acceptance and compassion. Strangers became confidants. Individual healing became collective healing. This sense of togetherness, of being seen and supported, may have been the most powerful medicine of all.
Celebrating Healing Arts Week
This event was part of the broader UNGA Healing Arts Week initiative, which recognizes the vital role that creative expression plays in individual and community wellness. By bringing together different healing modalities—visual art and sound healing—the event demonstrated how holistic approaches to wellbeing can complement and enhance one another.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Gratitude goes to Hey Arts for providing such a welcoming venue, to Healing Art Together for organizing this meaningful gathering, and most especially to Jlisette and Shan for sharing their gifts so generously. Their courage in being vulnerable and their dedication to helping others heal through their respective practices created an experience that participants will carry with them long after the afternoon ended.
The Ripple Effect
Events like “Art Share: Healing Through Creative Connection” remind us that healing is not always linear, and it’s rarely done alone. Whether through the stroke of a paintbrush, the resonance of a singing bowl, or the simple act of showing up and being present with others, we all have the capacity to support one another’s journey toward wholeness.
If you missed this event, keep an eye out for future offerings from Healing Art Together and Hey Arts. And if you attended, may the inspiration and peace you found continue to ripple outward into your daily life.
